Texas Tech softball announced the hiring of two new assistant coaches, Jeff Cottrill, previously at Houston, and Shelby Pendley, previously at New Mexico, Jackson State, and Belhaven before a playing career at Oklahoma.

Lady Raider basketball will participate in the WBCA Showcase at the Walt Disney World Resort from November 19-22 with games against North Carolina, Purdue and USF.

ESPN’s Bill Connelly with 100 games that help explain college football in 2026. A couple of Texas Tech mentions including one in 2008.

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams writes that he’s not all that worried about jersey patches, that it’s now part of the game:

Sounds to me like a college-sports exercise in first-world problems. I’m not too worked up about jersey patches, in other words. I probably won’t be when Texas Tech inevitably makes its big reveal. It’s a necessary concession in today’s game and fairly unobtrusive.

I cannot keep up with the current prospect of possible NCAA legislation, but I would encourage you follow Ross Dellenger if this is your thing. He’s got two different stories: the SEC and Big Ten must decide today on the Protect College Sports Act and Stanford football players are close to unionizing. For me, the wild thing is that through all of this, the input of the players seems to be an afterthought at best and I find the Stanford story as being one that’s not talked about enough.
