Podcasts. Check out your guys, Spencer and Michael, on 23 Personnel Podcast, a Texas Tech athletics podcast where food and sports clash at the goal line, as well as Keith Patrick and Dinger Derby, the only, yes only, podcast about Texas Tech baseball.

Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams writes about something I’ve mentioned previously, which is that head football coach Matt Wells is recruiting similarly to Chris Beard. Transfers and no spot is safe:

Wells is pursuing transfers with the same gusto as the guy over at United Supermarkets Arena. Now, based on where his program has been the past few years, Beard has more to sell and can pick off a higher caliber of player more often, probably. We’ll know more after seeing how this year’s collection pans out — on both their teams.

But those players looking for a better gig seem to be buying what Wells is selling — and he’s going about it aggressively.

Someone on the Tech staff is checking the transfer portal at least a twice a day: What new names are in there since last night? What new names are in there since we looked this morning?

When they zero in on someone they want, Tech coaches seem to be at or near the front of the line for making their case.

The question is if the roster is any better than it was before and if the answer is yes, then let’s dance.

The University of Texas announced that they were laying off 35 staff members and eliminating 35 additional positions as well as reduction in salary for employees. I should also add that I think I read somewhere that these cuts would result in savings of over $50 million. Texas Tech had to cut $25 million from their budget.

The Lady Raider basketball team came out in support of the men’s football team and other professional sports in support of the black lives matter movement.

That’s Bryn Gerlich, the daughter of head coach Krista Gerlich. A good portion of the team tweeted the same message (I am fully admit that I just didn’t count as to whether or not the entire team tweeted it, but it was more than a handful), but thought that the head coach’s daughter would be good here. Additionally, the Lady Raider twitter account also re-tweeted all of the ladies who did tweet this graphic.

If you stop supporting or liking Texas Tech or the women’s program or football or basketball or anything else, I think that’s absolutely your call. That’s the way that the world works. Supply and demand. Spend your money where you want to, etc.

The internet was out at mi casa this morning, so this is as good as it gets.
