Texas Tech will take on Kansas State today as part of the Big 12 Tournament and I was going to do a Big 12 Tournament thread, but then I went to Yo’s football practice and ran out of time. Regardless, Texas Tech will initiate that first pitch at 4:00 p.m. today at Globe Life Field, while pitching for Texas Tech is LHP Mason Molina (4.04 ERA, 1-5) who will take on the Wildcat known as RHP Connor McCullough (5.32 ERA, 3-3). You can follow the game here or watch on ESPN+.

CBS Sports ranks all of the 65 or so Power 5 football coaches and Joey McGuire checks in at the near bottom of the list at #62:

Joey McGuire: Texas Tech fans are excited about the hire of McGuire, as they’re hoping his connections in the Texas high school football sphere will help lure more talent to Lubbock. Spending the last five seasons under Matt Rhule and Dave Aranda at Baylor won’t hurt, either. 2021 rank: n/a

Everyone loves an underdog story.

Dallas Morning News’ Ryan Mainville is ranking the top 15 players and up first is 11-15 with lucky #13 being safety Reggie Pearson:

Reggie Pearson’s first season at Texas Tech was an absolute home run. Pearson finished the year with 54 tackles, three pass breakups and an interception. If he can add some consistency in pass coverage, Pearson could easily be one of the most impactful defenders on the roster next season.
