Texas Tech softball lost in extra innings to Texas, 7-6 yesterday in the Big 12 Championship. they jumped out early, but were unable to hold the lead late. I do love how this team competes and given that this is Coach Craig Snider’s first year speaks volumes about how I hope he’s got this program pointed.

Huge congrats to head coach JoJo Robertson and the women’s golf team for punching their ticket to the NCAA Championships for the 4th time in program history!

Texas Tech track and field is prepping for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships (on ESPN+) in Norman this weekend.

I realize now that I had the numbers tallied for the scholarships wrong AFTER I got to work yesterday so I just slumped my shoulders and resigned myself to it being wrong all day. For those of you worried about the status of the roster, Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams spoke with head coach Grant McCasland and he hears you, but he’s not worried:

“Don’t read Twitter. … People have been like, ‘Coach, do we have any players?’ … ‘Do we have a staff?’ ” McCasland told the crowd. “You know what I want to do here at Texas Tech? … We want to win the last game of the year, and we will pour everything we have into making that happen. … It’s going to take us a little bit to make sure we get the right people. Does everybody understand that part?

“Would we rather have everybody excited in May, or in April? You get what I’m saying? You know when the national championship game is? It’s in April. So that’s what I want.”

CBS Sports’ Josh Pate (this is a video so no quotes) is on Texas Tech early as a dark horse candidate to win the Big 12.
