The Lady Raiders earned a nice win on Saturday beating the Kansas Jayhawks 73-64 with 25 from Jasmine Shavers and 10 each from Bailey Maupin and Ashley Chevalier. A nice response from being blown out by Texas earlier in the week. The Lady Raiders will be on the road in Stillwater on Wednesday to take on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls.

It was a weekend of transfer commitments, right before the semester started. Red Raider Sports’ Justin Apodaca notes that Nevada defensive lineman James Hansen (6-2/305) who started the last 2 years where he finished with 37 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss and 2 sacks. Hansen will have 1 year available and Texas Tech will still need some help bridging the gap between some of the very young defensive tackles and Quincy Ledet and Dooda Banks.

Red Raider Sports’ Justin Apodaca is also reporting that TCU defensive back Javeon Wilcox (6-1/200) will also transfer to Texas Tech. Wilcox is a former teammate of Micah Hudson at Lake Belton, Wilcox redshirted this past year and was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school.

And finally, Red Raider Sports’ Ben Golan reported that former Oklahoma tight end Jason Llewellyn (6-5/255) will transfer to Texas Tech. Llewellyn was a 4-star recruit coming out of Aledo and played 10 games as a true freshman in 2022, but only played 3 games this past year in 2023 so he’ll have 3 years of eligibility.

Red Raider Sports has the Q&A’s for offensive lineman Jacob Ponton and quarterback Will Hammond.
