Felt like a need for an emergency Eligibility Chart for the basketball team. This weekend, Pop Isaacs and Robert Jennings announced that they would hit the portal and likely transfer, and they join Drew Steffe and KyRon Lindsay in the portal as well and I felt that we were losing too many players to not post something to show these transfers and let you all know where the roster sits. Some things as always, there are 13 scholarships available each year. I would expect some other players to still hit the portal before it is all said and done. If/when I make a mistake, let me know. I am honestly a bit stumped about the years remaining for some players, but we’ll get there.

Regarding Jennings’ departure, I thought he grew so much over the last half of the season and thought that he played so well in Warren Washington’s absence to help get this team to the NCAA Tournament. Most of his game is around the rim and hasn’t really evolved an offensive game. I would think that this is what he’ll work on at his next destination. For the record, I would have appreciated him returning, but also understand why he’s transferring.

Pop Isaacs is the leading scorer for the team and it’s a huge hit for the team as he’s a guy that can get his own shot pretty much any time he wants. Isaacs’ was also a guy that just didn’t shoot very well, just 41% from inside the arc and just 29% from the 3-point line. That’s not great considering he took nearly 300 3-pointers for the year. That’s not to say he’s not important, but his box score +/- for the year was -0.5 and for comparison purposes, Chance McMillian was a +3.6. I could honestly see McMillian see more shots. As to why Isaacs is transferring, who knows, but the pending legal situation and his father who is dealing with cancer, Isaacs probably realizes he needs to get as big of a bag as humanly possible to help pay for those things and just to make as much money as possible while he can.
