Over the weekend, Texas Tech received the commitment from senior Nevada TE Jett Carpenter (6-3/258). Carpenter was the leading receiver for the Wolfpack, 35 receptions, 374 yards, 2 touchdowns, nearly 11 yards a catch and about 31 yards a game.

SFA K Jacob Hand (5-11/170_ also committed () over the weekend. Hand made 3 of 3 field goal attempts, but it is the kickoffs where Hand shines, 89 total with 48 touchbacks if I am reading this correct.
The biggest news from yesterday is that Auburn receiver Cam Coleman committed to Texas. Coleman was maybe down to Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Texas (obviously) and possibly Alabama. The question is if Texas Tech will pivot and look for another receiver or stand pat with where they are at with Pitt WR Kenny Johnson, South Alabama IR Jalen Jones, and Liberty WR Donte Lee being the receiver commits thus far. Coleman definitely took his time making a decision and that’s part of the problem in waiting is that the window isn’t open that much longer so it takes time to maybe make the relationships needed to sign a receiver. There are still a few options available including Texas WR DeAndre Moore, Jr., Syracuse WR Darrell Gill, Jr., and Ohio State WR Quincy Porter as guys at the top of the “best receiver” list, but have no idea if Texas Tech is interested in any of them. Texas Tech’s GM James Blanchard doesn’t seem like a guy who is not unprepared. There was also the tweet from Blanchard where he wrote “I wouldn’t bet against the Red Raiders.. #TrueStory” regarding Coleman and I think the Texas GM had something to say after Coleman committed. It helps Texas when the agent is also supposedly a UT grad, but whatever. Sometimes you miss. I’m sure that won’t motivate Blanchard.
Minnesota safety Koi Perich is apparently down to Texas Tech and Oregon, Perich having visited Oregon this weekend and is maybe waiting on Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman to make a decision about declaring for the NFL Draft.
