On the Track
West Kittley is named Big 12 Coach of the Year adding yet another accolade to a hall of fame career.
On the Diamond
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams reports that Tim Tadlock will return as the head coach in 2027. I’ve said it before, I have a soft spot for Tadlock and I’d give him one more year to see what he does with a team full of scholarships rather than the 11.7 that he’s had over the last couple of years.
On the Hardwood
I know that Texas Tech received a commitment from North Crowley forward Treaton Hall. Will get to that over the weekend.
On the Gridiron
I honestly just don’t care about Steve Sarkisian. There was a time where I cared about what another team in this state said or thought, but I just don’t care at all. I think Sarkisian says things in order to stay relevant. Coping is a real thing and so is pressure and Sarkisian obviously has issues with both. Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian was asked by a fan at The Touchdown Club of Houston if there is any way to get the College Football Playoff Committee to factor in strength of schedule in their decision-making. Sarkisian said there’s a team in this state that plays in another… pic.twitter.com/EvqDAoHA5E

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams with the details on how WR Micah Hudson wasn’t on scholarship last year:
“You could give a full scholarship, plus whatever revenue-share percentage … ,” Hocutt said in 2024. “Or you could give your 86th football player on your roster no scholarship, but we’re going to give you a revenue share of $30,000 and that should cover your tuition, fees, books, board at Texas Tech, but you’re going to have to pay your own scholarship bill.”
