Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams on Texas Tech wanting to use more personnel on offense, particularly at receiver:

In an off-season study, McGuire’s staff noted that the sixth most-used receivers last year at Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson, among others, played more snaps than Tech’s fourth most-used receiver, Micah Hudson.

“There was a difference when Caleb and Reggie were out of the game,” McGuire said, “where I think this year we’re actually going to be able to get that (rotation).

“We’ve also talked about … we were fortunate to play 14 games last year. We want to play 16 games. You want to be able to create that depth, so it’s going to be a very purposeful rotation throughout the season, but really early, to get those guys in games.”

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Nathan Giese asks if Micah Hudson is ready for a break-out session:

Kenny Johnson has been Hudson’s main source of stability so far this season. The Pittsburgh transfer is expected to start at the opposite outside receiver position from Hudson. The pair clicked instantly, something even Johnson couldn’t put into words about how it worked so well. They’ve become each other’s bedrock for individual competition while holding each other accountable.

“That’s my right-hand man,” Hudson said of Johnson. “It’s like my brother. I’ve learned a lot from him. He’s had a lot of experience, so me being able to pick up a lot of different things that he’s teaching me and stuff like that has been able to help my game a lot.”

Red Raider Sports’ L. Jordan writes that C Sheridan Wilson discusses improvement on the offensive line:

Asked where the offensive line has to improve during fall camp, Wilson pointed to one area that’s key to the group having success going forward.

“I mean, literally every single thing. Like every single time we mess up, it’s just a communication issue. It’s not our skill set or anything like that. All it really comes down to is our communication. It’s literally just mental busts. That’s all it is. So I think if we fix that, we’re going to be fantastic.”
