Lady Raiders Finish 3rd. The Lady Raider golf team finished third in the 2016 Lady Puerto Rico Challenge, which was ahead of Iowa State and Kent State, both ranked teams:
“I am really proud of our team,” said Texas Tech head coach JoJo Robertson. “We gave up a few shots yesterday but other than that we were right there for low rounds in two of the three rounds. Each player contributed this week and it was an all-around team effort.”

Lady Raiders Take On Iowa State. The Lady Raiders are in Ames to take on Iowa State, tonight at 7:00 pm. The game will be streamed online at Cyclones.tv:
The Lady Raiders (11-13, 2-11) won the season’s earlier meeting with the Cyclones, a 69-66 overtime thriller in Lubbock, on Jan. 17. Ivonne CookTaylor led the way with 21 points and four assists and Japreece Dean chipped in 10 points and six assists.
“I think anytime you have played somebody once and you go back to watch film, there is a lot you can learn on both sides,” Texas Tech head coach Candi Whitaker said. “Whether you won the first meeting or not, you are looking to make adjustments to your gameplan–seeing all the advantages and disadvantages.”
LAJ’s Nicholas Talbot previews tonight’s game as well.

New Scoreboard. This looks fantastic. Excellent use of an item that wasn’t being used at Jones AT&T Stadium any longer.

Midland Recruiting Review.
Expansion to be Decided in Summer. Via NewsOK, Oklahoma president David Boren said that the Big 12 will have to make a decision regarding expansion this summer:
“We’ve sort of said to ourselves, come this summer, we’re going to have to finally make a decision about what we do. We cannot indefinitely postpone decisions. That’s what I had gotten frustrated about. I thought we were spinning our wheels.”
But Boren says the presidents have agreed to research the numbers and let the data decide.
“And I think a consensus is forming around these three reforms,” Boren said. “So I’m in a personal mode of patience. Trying to be patient, because sometimes it takes time to work through.”
Cincinnati doesn’t mind waiting. Like the other prime candidates — Brigham Young, Connecticut, Central Florida, Boise State — the Bearcats have no other viable options for inclusion into the Power Five conferences.

Linebacker Rankings. ESPN’s Jake Trotter has his rankings of the linebacker units and the Red Raiders rank 8th overall. Again, not a lot to argue with here. Need to show up on the field.
8. Texas Tech: As Tech attempts to rebuild its run defense, the development of redshirt freshmen Dakota Allen and D’Vonta Hinton will be key; they combined for 140 tackles last season. Malik Jenkins returns as a starter, but the Red Raiders are also hoping to get early contributions from incoming freshmen Johnathan Picone, Jordyn Brooks and Brayden Stringer.
Ranking 20 Through 16. DMN’s Mike DuPont continues his ranking and has 20 through 16. I’m not sure about these rankings, but I still want to see the entire list before making a call on this. For example, I don’t know that I’d have Quinton White and T.J. Vasher on this list.
Miscellaneous. Via CollegeFootballTalk, LSU wide receiver Trey Quinn is transferring and will have to sit out the 2016 season. Texas Tech was one of the finalists for Quinn’s services when he was in high school . . . ESPN’s Brandon Chatmon has offensive lineman Madison Akamnonu as a redshirt freshman to watch . . .
