Texas Tech Adds Iowa RB Derrick Mitchell Jr. as Graduate Transfer

This shores up some of the running back issues as Iowa running back Derrick Mitchell, Jr. will transfer to Texas Tech as a graduate transfer and will be eligible in 2017.

As I Graduate today and get my degree from the University of Iowa I will be playing my last year of football at Texas Tech University.

Mitchell only ran the ball 2 times for 12 yards in 2016, but in 2015, Mitchell had 25 carries for 162 yards, about 6.48 yards a carry and 2 touchdowns. Mitchell is 6-2/215 so he has good size at running back, and was originally a wide receiver before converting to running back so you’d guess that his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield is decent. And in 2015, Mitchell had 15 catches for 142 yards, which averages about 10 yards a catch.
