Red Raiders in Haiti

Fourteen Red Raiders took a mission trip to Haiti and anytime that you get to see a third world country, it can be a moving experience.

Texas Tech Baseball

Huge congrats to juniors Parker Mushinski and Tanner Gardner, Mushinski was drafted in the 7th round by the Houston Astros and Gardner was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 9th round. Mushinski was 3-2 on the year with a 2.15 ERA and Gardner hit .305 with 17 doubles and 5 home runs for the year. I would guess that both of these guys end up leaving, and rightfully so. There is still the chance that SS Orlando Garcia is drafted, but since 10 rounds have passed, he may not leave because he wasn’t picked high enough.

Texas Tech Football

This was posted online yesterday and if I played video games, I’d be all about this.

This is Terence Steele and Zach Barnes, both lifting 570 in sumo deadlift.

Remember on Monday when I wrote about long jumper and wide receiver Dalton Rigdon from Perryton on Monday as being a guy that tries to walk-on this year? Well Amarillo Globe-News’ Lance Lahnert had this to say about Rigdon:

Dalton Rigdon: Had a chance to visit with the recent Perryton graduate at the Greenbelt Bowl where he deservedly was named MVP. Rigdon is headed to Texas Tech for football and track. It want be easy for him to do both, but keep an eye on him. He has passion like I’ve rarely seen and is an easy guy to root for.

Miscellaneous . . . Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy finally signed his contract extension with the Cowboys . . . West Virginia is adding Miami quarterback Jack Allison as a transfer and will sit out this year and then be eligible . . .
