Red Raiders Hoops – Texas Tech takes down Boston College 75-64

BOX SCORE

Player of the Game | Keenan Evans sort of put the team on his shoulders and won this game for Texas Tech. When everything stalled for the Red Raiders on offense, Evans just bared down and drove the ball to the rim. He was not good from the outside, but got his 2-pointers and free throws to drop. Especially when it was needed. He had 29 points, and went 10-10 from the charity stripe.

Stat of the Game | The turnover battle. Texas Tech forced 18, and only had 11 on us. We needed those to win this game.

How the Game was Won | It was a game of runs. Back-and-forth, Texas Tech would get out in front, and then Boston College would claw back to keep it close. In the last minute of the game, the Red Raiders played defense and they executed plays to get points. Coaching came into play at the end of the game and Chris Beard knew what to do to get a victory.

Turning Point | This game was actually much closer than the final score. But, we looked good in the final few minutes. With only about 39 seconds left Zach Smith fired a pass from out of bounds the full length of the court to Zhaire Smith who scored the wide open basket with 37 seconds left to go up 71-64. Beautiful play call by Coach Beard.

Team Observations | This was the first real test for our team, and I was a little disappointed that we did not just dominate. The Red Raiders would jump out first and looked like the more athletic team on the court. Though things did not look to roll as smooth as the game went on. The biggest takeaway from me is that we closed the game strong, and looked like we were pretty excited as a team to get this win.
