Texas Tech Football Names Captains for 2019 Season

Yesterday, Texas Tech and head coach Matt Wells announced the captains for the 2019 team and season, this year, it is 16 players from each class. There were 5 seniors, 5 juniors, 3 sophomores, and 3 freshmen.

Classification Players
Seniors LB Jordyn Brooks, OL Travis Bruffy, DB Douglas Coleman III, OL Terence Steele, DL Broderick Washington, Jr.
Juniors OL Jack Anderson, DE Eli Howard, LB Riko Jeffers, DB Thomas Leggett, RB Jax Welch
Sophomores QB Alan Bowman, DB Adrian Frye, RB Ta’Zhawn Henry
Freshmen LB Xavier Benson, WR Erik Ezukanma, RB SaRodorick Thompson

In the video, it’s fun to watch. Welch got the biggest reaction from the rest of the team and maybe Thompson got the second biggest reaction. It’s interesting that all four classes are represented. A couple of interesting notes, KAMC’s Eric Kelly had his list of players and listed Riko Jeffers as a defensive lineman versus a linebacker and A-J Media’s Don Williams said that four players a week will be chosen for the coin toss, so all 16 players won’t walk out for the coin toss.

Wells I think has talked after the spring that Washington and Coleman have been standouts during spring practices and I’m really interested in the dynamic with the sophomores and freshmen, Bowman is somewhat a given because he’s the quarterback, but it is at least reassuring. I like to know who the team thinks is a leader at such a young classification, so congrats to Frye, Henry, Benson, Ezukanma, and Thompson.
