Dan Law Dead At The Age Of 87

Late Monday night, the Texas Tech community heard some sad news that Red Raider legend Dan Law passed away at the age of 87. Most of y’all may know him because of the name of the baseball stadium, Dan Law Field, but he was a big part of the Lubbock community.

Dan’s son Sam Law posted via Facebook, “My Father died tonight at 7pm. Gone to heaven because of his faith in Jesus Christ. A really good day.”.

Law served in the Army branch of the military and attended Texas Tech after he retired from the Army. He played on the football team from 1955-1956, and played on the baseball team from 1956-1957.

Dan Law played a huge role in renovating the baseball stadium in the mid-80’s and impacted the program so much that they named the field after him in 1998. He was inducted in the Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Honor in 1984 and has been a staple in Red Raider baseball.

We will never forget you, Dan Law. May you rest in peace.
