Texas Tech to Host Kentucky in SEC/Big 12 Challenge

The Kentucky Wildcats are set to travel to Lubbock, Texas (what world do we live in where this happens?) to play Texas Tech according to JonRothstein.

The Wildcats feature incoming freshmen Tyrese Maxey (6-3/185) who is a scoring machine and Kahlil Whitney (6-6/190) is one of those versatile wings that the NBA coets, while Ashton Hagans (6-3/190) plays the point for Kentucky and averaged 7.7 points and 4.3 assists, last year, while Nick Richards (6-11/245) will man the middle and averaged 4.0 points and 3.3 rebounds a game.

Kentucky also dips their toes into the transfer market like Texas Tech and Bucknell transfer Nate Sestina (6-9/245), who averaged 15.8 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Bison last year.

John Calipari and Kentucky are picked as the #3 preseason team in the nation by CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish, with Texas Tech checking at #14. As I’ve previously mentioned, Parrish actually ranks the team on a weekly basis, so he spends more time thinking about this than most people do.

I updated the Texas Tech eligibility chart and the offseason was busy. Quite busy. As an aside, the “13” for the 2019 class includes the players going. There are 13 total scholarship players allowed in each season and with the current suspension of Deshawn Corprew (who it has been said will not play for Texas Tech going forward) Texas Tech still has one scholarship spot available for the upcoming season.
