Setting The Big 12 Table: Week 10

Conference

KANSAS STATE (5-3, 2-3)
@
KANSAS (1-7, 0-5)

Date & Time: Saturday, November 6th @ 11:00 am
TV: FS1
Line: Kansas State -23.5
Commentary: Kansas State trounced TCU, 31-12 at home. At halftime, it was 21-5, which is a weird score. Meanwhile Kansas was throttled by Oklahoma State in Stillwater and that was not really a close game at all. This should be a decently easy game for Kansas State and right now, Kansas is pretty well lost (but at least they have a coach) and they’re really just trying to close out the year and probably get some more of their guys on the roster and probably a new quarterback. Kansas State has Baylor, West Virginia, and then Texas remaining on the schedule.

OKLAHOMA STATE (7-1, 4-1)
@
WEST VIRGINIA (4-4, 2-3)

Date & Time: Saturday, November 6th @ 2:30 pm
TV: ESPN
Line: Oklahoma State -3.0
Commentary: I did not have West Virginia beating Iowa State really. I thought ISU would be better this year, but they’re honestly pretty average from what I can tell (which would be awesome). Oklahoma State essentially getting a week off to pummel Kansas is probably good for them and presume that they did not get beat up any more than a scrimmage. Despite the game being played in Morgantown, I think I like Oklahoma State a bit more than West Virginia and it would seem as if Oklahoma State is on a collision course with Oklahoma in Bedlam. I’d also add that I am a bit surprised how much better West Virginia is playing of late. That bye week really did do them some good, they were able to re-group a bit and being able to knock off Iowa State is no small task.

BAYLOR (7-1, 4-1)
@
TCU (3-5, 1-4)

Date & Time: Saturday, November 6th @
TV: FOX
Line: Baylor -5.0
Commentary: There was a time when I’d typically think that TCU and Gary Patterson have something up their sleeve. They would always figure things out and stop opponents. That’s not happening anymore and I don’t have a ton of answers other than they’re just not very good (except when they play Texas Tech). And now they’ve essentially fired Gary Patterson (he was asked to finish out the year and move to a different role in 2022 and Patterson said “Peace out”). Baylor is on an absolute fire right now and where would we be if Texas Tech had hired Dave Aranda before Baylor ever had the opportunity? Life just isn’t fair sometimes, but it appears that Baylor is doing it with solid defense, an innovative offense, and that’s something that sounds like a blueprint.

TEXAS (4-4, 2-3)
@
IOWA STATE (5-3, 3-2)

Date & Time: Saturday, November 6th @ 6:30 pm
TV: FS1
Line: Iowa State -6.5
Commentary: Texas gets beat by Baylor and Texas is not back, but this is just a weird world where I don’t have answers for why things are happening the way that they are. Iowa State losing on the road in what was a pretty bonkers game has got to be frustrating for ISU that had really high hopes for their team this year. I think I like Iowa State better than Texas in this game, but the Texas offense gets hot, the there’s really no telling because they can be good. I think that an angry Iowa State at home at night where said Iowa State fans will have all day to drink sounds like a recipe for an Iowa State win.

Off-Week

OKLAHOMA (9-0, 6-0): Oklahoma looked great against Texas Tech, but it feels as if Red Raiders have than affect on other teams. Oklahoma still has Baylor, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State remaining. Same as Texas Tech.

TEXAS TECH (5-4, 2-4): Well, I’m sort of out of words here and as I said on Sunday, am looking forward to the coaching search. More on that in the next post.
