The news sort of broke yesterday afternoon from Tobias Bass who works for The Athletic, tweeted that Jaylon Tyson would enter the transfer portal. Later in the evening, Lubbock Avalanche Journal’s Nathan Giest confirmed that Tyson has not entered the portal as of now. That’s not to say that it won’t happen, but it’s not happening right now. As an aside, I worked on a new eligibility chart over the weekend that I hope to drop tomorrow.

Texas Tech baseball won Friday night, 13-7, Saturday, 9-5, but was run-ruled yesterday, 12-2, so Texas Tech won the series, but were pretty well hammered on Sunday. Baseball will return home to face Grand Canyon on Tuesday and Wednesday with Baylor arriving in Lubbock for the weekend series. Right now, Texas Tech is 6-6 in conference with Texas, TCU, Kansas State, West Virginia, and Oklahoma State ahead of them. Texas Tech will have Kansas State, West Virginia, and Kansas to finish off their Big 12 slate.

Lubbock Avalanche Journal is reporting that new assistant Matt Braeuer will receiver $385,000 per year and Achoki Moikobu will receive $250,000 per year. This article also confirms that head coach Grant McCasland signed for 6 years and $18.15 million starting at $2.9 million.

Red Raider Sports’ Jarrett Ramirez was there for the media scrum with tight ends coach Josh Cochran as well as tight ends Jayden York and Baylor Cupp. Here’s Cochran, but there’s more there:

“That’s a tough question, they’re all doing a really good job. Baylor Cupp has done a phenomenal job in terms of run blocking from when he got here last spring to now. He’s kind of gotten a mindset of that he’s okay dominating the guy in front of him. That’s normal to him now. Then Jayden York is another guy. I’ve been extremely excited about the progress he’s making and just his ability to make plays in the pass game.”
