* Texas Tech hits the road once again this weekend when they head to Grand Canyon for a three-game series. Meeting for the third time in four seasons, the Red Raiders will look to snap a 14-game road losing streak that dates back to an Apr. 12 victory at TCU. The Red Raiders are 0-3 this season on the road after falling in all three games at UNC.

* Riding a bit of a momentum high after Wednesday’s 13-1 complete victory over UCSD, Tech will look to record its first weekend series victory this weekend against the Lopes. In Wednesday’s win over UCSD, the Red Raiders were led by Canadians Rob Villeneuve and Tyler Boudreau (Right). Boudreau threw six shutout innings and allowed just two hits in his first career start as a Red Raider, while Villeneuve drove in three runs on a moon-shot three run home run to left. In the win, the Red Raiders recorded their sixth straight game with at least 10 hits.

* Five different Red Raiders enter the weekend batting at leas .300. That group is led by infielder and Co-Big 12 Home Run leader TJ Pompey who is batting .444 through the early season. First baseman Robin Villeneuve is second on the Red Raiders in average (.395) followed by OF Damian Bravo who sits at .362. Bravo who has recorded a hit in every game is joined by his outfield mate Kyeler Thompson who sits at .311.

Tied at two heading to the eighth, Texas Tech Baseball saw Grand Canyon strike for 10-runs in the decisive eighth inning of Friday’s 12-5 loss.

In the setback, Texas Tech (3-9) got off to a good start, racing out to a 2-0 lead, before Grand Canyon (9-4) struck for 12 unanswered runs.

The Red Raiders did fight back in the ninth, using a Little League home run from Logan Hughes to score three times in the final frame. Hughes went 3-for-4 a finished a home run shy of the cycle. Following the Hughes triple and the error, Tech scored twice more, but the damage was done, as GCU closed out the victory in the opening game of the three-game set.

In his fourth start of the season, Heuer was sensational, as the righty did not allow a run through the first five innings of the game. He struck out a season-high six batters and allowed just three hits until a lead-off double to Emilio Barreras.
