Keep waiting for a slow day. I suppose I can, and am happy, to just keep waiting.

On the Diamond

All-American Tennessee 3B Taylor Pannell has committed to Texas Tech, which is a huge deal. Pannell hit .398 with 16 home runs, 65 RBIs, and slugged .747. Quick, someone go ask Craig Snider how he’s going to deal with this loss because he’s been super cool about Texas Tech’s success in softball. I’m sure he’s taking this really well.

On the Hardwood

The Big 12 released each team’s matchups and so we know the following:

Home-and-Away: BYU, Colorado, Houston
Home-Only: Cincinnati, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Utah
Away-Only: Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Iowa State, UCF, West Virginia

This feels so far away, but it’s great to get Houston and BYU twice, both are going to be really good teams. Other than that, you just sorta play who’s on the schedule.

On the Gridiron

CBS Sports’ Shehan Jeyarajah & Tom Fornelli on the most hyped offseason teams and whether or not to buy or sell, posting Fornelli’s thoughts, but click on over for Jeyarajah’s thoughts.

Tom Fornelli: There isn’t a team in the Big 12 I wouldn’t buy as a College Football Playoff contender because it’s a league that could be won by any member. All you have to do is look back to last season when an Arizona State team nobody believed in — coming off a 3-9 record and playing in a new league — won it. With Texas Tech, fans and analysts alike are placing too much faith in a highly ranked transfer class, as there is no longstanding evidence that transfer rankings have predictive value. You might be 2024 Indiana, but you could be 2024 Florida State. There’s a wide range of potential outcomes here, and winning the Big 12 is on that spectrum. Verdict: Buy

Lubbock Avalanche Journal’s Don Williams reports that Chapman Lewis will redshirt the entire year as he tore his ACL in the Liberty Bowl. There is a possibility that he could play the last 4 games of the year

Lubbock Avalanche Journal’s Don Williams is also reporting that QB Behren Morton (shoulder), WR Caleb Douglas (hyperextended knee and bone bruise), and WR Coy Eakin (back surgery) are all cleared to play and practice, while WR Reggie Virgil (broken toe) is not quite ready, but should be good in July.
