On the Diamond
Texas Tech softball fell to Texas State 3-0, the offense stalled again at the end of a 6-game road-trip so a bit understanable, but maybe also a bit concerning to go 4-2 during this trip.
Texas Tech baseball fell to Incarnate Word 13-8. Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams reports that Friday night starter Lukas Pirko is out (non-arm injury) and will start Jackson Burns, Connor Mohan and Adam Hayes against Utah this weekend.

There has been some movement for men’s basketball. Hofstra guard Cruz Davis (6-3/170) is visiting Texas Tech this week. Davis averaged 20 points a game, making 44% of his shots and 40% from deep while averaging 3.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists. Davis was a high usage player that received high marks for his assist and turnover rate. I don’t know if this other player is visiting, but maybe more heat about UNLV guard Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn (6-1/185), averaging 20.7 points, 2.5 assists, 3.1 boards, while making 50% of his shots and 41% from deep. Similarly, Gibbs-Lawhorn is a high usage player with a low turnover rate and is an excellent shooter all the way around. Davis will take other visits. I have no idea about how likely either player will sign and I’m not too concerned about the status of the roster. Hollar at me in a month if things are dire, but I don’t expect that.
Nolan Groves has gone back home and signed with Minnesota and that makes a ton of sense.
