About a month or so ago I recommended that you got to a local track meet and last night we went to the spring concert for the Kaufman High School band and it was fantastic. I’d also recommend that you find your high school spring concert and go. Those kids are so talented and work so hard.

This is pretty cool. An Artemis II photograph timeline.

On the Diamond

Texas Tech softball allowed 3 runs in the 7th to lose to Baylor, 8-7. Good news is that Samantha Lincoln pitched 4 innings and gave up just 3 runs, but things went amiss when Chloe Riassetto stepped into the circle and didn’t record an out. Nijaree Canady tried to step in and record the final 3 frames and just couldn’t hold it together. The final game is today at 1:30 p.m.

Texas Tech baseball was rained out yesterday and will play a double-header today, first pitch is 2:00 p.m. and game two will be 45 minutes after the game one.

On the Hardwood

Christian Anderson is one of 73 players who earned an invitation to the AWS NBA Draft Combine.

CBS Sports looks at what different high-end teams need and here’s the assessment on Texas Tech:

It’s a hard balance to strike, especially for a roster that has flipped on its head. Star point guard Christian Anderson is expected to stay in the NBA Draft, and Texas Tech has reinforcements already in the chamber with coveted Hofstra point guard Cruz Davis, bucket-getting UNLV transfer Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn, prized freshman DaKari Spear and Wyoming transfer Damarion Dennis providing depth.

But there is no real difference-maker in this frontcourt. LeJuan Watts transferred to Washington after an up-and-down season in Lubbock. Shot-blocker Luke Bamgboye hit the portal as well after an … up-and-down season in Lubbock. Sensing a theme?

Texas Tech needs a center, and there’s no one left in the portal who could project to be an all-conference option. So the Red Raiders have chosen to comb the international market. Keep an eye on Brice Dessert. The 6-foot-11 German big man owns a 7-foot-4 wingspan. He has the frame and the game. The 23-year-old has been well-schooled in the Euro League and looks like a plug-and-play pick-and-roll option to pair with a point guard like Davis, who is a dynamic maestro in ball screens.

College teams have courted Dessert for years, but if Texas Tech can get this over the finish line, the Red Raiders will be back in business. — Isaac Trotter

On the Gridiron

ESPN’s Craig Haubert looks at the top 25 post-Sorsby news:

If Sorsby is ruled ineligible, this highly touted portal class will lose some of its potential impact.

The Red Raiders had some work to do to simply maintain their momentum. They need to replace 24.5 combined sacks between pass rushers David Bailey and Romello Height, their leading tackler at linebacker (Jacob Rodriguez) and their leading tackler in the secondary in Cole Wisniewski.

To do so, coach Joey McGuire leaned on a familiar blueprint. The headliner is top-10 transfer Mateen Ibirogba (No. 8), a versatile defensive lineman from Wake Forest, and he’s joined by a pair of ultra-productive Group of 6 defensive ends in Trey White(San Diego State) and Adam Trick (Miami-Ohio). Inside linebacker Austin Romaine comes over from Kansas State, where he had one of his best outings of the year against Texas Tech, recording eight tackles and a sack in Week 10.
