“We like being Texas Tech,” Jackie Lis said. “No matter what role we’re going to get, we’re going to thrive in it and we’re going to do us.”

Calling Texas Tech the “villain” has become niche, the password to determining whether someone is in the know or not. The Red Raiders have not been shy about what they’ve built in the course of two years. They want to win a national championship, something every team wants.

Mississippi Clarion Ledger’s Tia Reid: Why Mississippi State vs Texas Tech in WCWS is so different from last year’s regional

The Red Raiders combined to score 19 runs on 28 hits in last season’s regional games. However, the only pitcher on MSU’s roster that played in either of those games was Delainey Everett. Everett (2-1, 0.69 ERA) has played sparingly this season after shoulder surgery, but is coming off a shutout against Oklahoma in the super regionals.

The Bulldogs also added Alyssa Faircloth (16-7, 2.47 ERA) from Troy and Peja Goold (15-1, 2.36 ERA) from Chattanooga. The pair have helped MSU to a 2.29 team ERA that ranks No. 8 in the NCAA.
