Recruiting on the Plains: 2016 JUCO DT Mychealon Thomas Player Profile

Emmett Jones strikes again. To catch you up, Jones is a new hire for Texas Tech’s Kliff Kingsbury and was the former head coach at South Oak Cliff and also played at Texas Tech.  It’s obvious that Jones identified Texas Tech’s latest commit in defensive tackle Mychealon Thomas, currently playing for Butler County C.C., but played his high school football at Skyline in Dallas.

Scouting Report: Thomas was a 3-star defensive tackle coming out of Skyline, but he couldn’t qualify, so he off to the great state of Kansas where the level of JUCO play is top-notch. Unfortunately, we don’t really get to see any of Thomas’ JUCO film, just from his senior year of high school. Thomas needs to work on that baby deer skin, or getting rid of it. Seems like he’s carrying weight that isn’t beneficial and causing him to lose some quickness. There’s a good athlete there, but not as good as he could be right now. The best thing is that he doesn’t get pushed around. At all. So, despite being slow off the snap, he’s really strong and he does a good job of using his hands
