Two Want to Expand. Let’s make that two athletic directors who want to expand as West Virginia Gordon Gee wants the Big 12 to go ahead expand as well, via College Football Talk:

“I think [the remarks] are fairly consistent with the thinking in the Big 12,” Gee said. “It’s nothing new. I’m in favor of expansion. I think he’s expressing what we’ve been thinking.”

Men’s Basketball

Smith High Point Hall of Fame. Huge congrats to Tubby Smith for being named to the 2016 High Point Athletics Hall of Fame. Smith just won his 550th game as a coach and will be inducted on May 21st.

Visiting Clergeot. Head coach Tubby Smith and and Joe Esposito went to Florida last night to watch Texas Tech commit Keon Clergeot.

Football

Mahomes and Duffey. Dave Campbell is coming out with a recruiting edition and your very own Patrick Mahomes and Jett Duffey grace the cover of the inaugural recruiting edition.

Cooper Offered. Andress defensive back Tristan Cooper (6-2/180) has been offered by Texas Tech:

Cooper is a hard-hitting defensive back that has some range. According to MaxPreps Cooper had 110 tackles, 6 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles.

McCann Ready. RP’s Jarrett Johnson talked with Arkansas defensive tackle Nicholas McCann about his official visit this weekend (along with a handful of other notables) as well as new defensive line coach Kevin Patrick:

“I really like him (Patrick)… I like how he is like my high school d-line coach with just his style and how he handles his players,” McCann said. “It seems to me that he is the type of coach who doesn’t yell very often and he’s laid back, but hands on at the same time. He is a player’s coach, is about the team and it seems that he is a man who gives as much as he expects.”

Miscellaneous. The visitor that I didn’t know who it was last weekend ended up being DeMarkus Acy a safety from Wilmer-Hutchins. RRS’s Matt Clare talked with Acy after his visit, but it appears that Acy is sticking with his commitment to Missouri . . . RRS’s Will McKay has the storylines as we approach national signing day and essentially, what the class could finish out with is Zach Farrar, Yasir Durant and maybe a couple of other defensive possibilities, but this is pretty much it unless the new assistant coaches bring someone new to the table, but we probably won’t find out about those until after a week or so . . .

Recruiting Update. Here we go.
