Analysis

Grant absolutely wowed during his pro day at Texas Tech. An “on the record” 40-yard dash of 4.38, but reported on a couple of instances at a 4.10. Grant does have quickness and speed in spades, there’s no question about that. Grant’s biggest issue is his size and smaller receivers have a smaller target to throw to and that can be a problem for some quarterbacks. Still, getting Grant in space, which would include punt returns and kickoffs could make him a very valuable commodity at the NFL level. I think it’s also helpful that teams are utilizing more spread concepts and that bodes well for Grant who excelled at that level. It should also be noted that Grant improved his catch rate from his junior to his senior year significantly. He was much more reliable his senior year, that’s just hard work. Personally, I think Grant gets his named called on Saturday, most likely a 6th to 7th round pick, but I think enough teams are intrigued by his blazing speed.
