The Player Speaks: RRS’s Drew Kohnle talked with Frye, who discussed how Texas Tech was showing the most interest in Frye and also talked about how he thinks he can play at a high level:

“Since I was younger, I have always been playing with older kids. I have always had that mindset that I am coming to win, I am coming to show out. I have that chip on my shoulder that I have something to prove. My brother always taught me that it is not always the physical part, but it is the mental part, too. If you’re mentally prepared, you can play with anyone. I’ve got plenty of work to do, but when the time comes I’ll be ready to play among the nation’s best at that level. I have the dedication and the work ethic to improve my speed, strength, and body size and everything I need to. As far as the mental aspect, I’ll be ready to play.”

Scouting Report: We definitely have a type and with the commitment of Kamren Curl, I may repeat myself a bit. Frye is typical of the defensive back that David Gibbs is wanting to recruit. Frye is a long and lean defensive back with good speed. He does a good job of bumping the receiver and he can run with most receivers that he plays. Frye does a good job of jumping routes when asked. Frye also attended the Houston camp and in Kohnle’s article, Frye mentioned how Karl Scott, defensive backs coach, has done an excellent job of getting to know him and with a guy like Curl, this is a guy that probably has gone under the radar a bit. I would guess that Frye was a camp kid this summer and he needed to be seen. Frye is probably a 3-star guy, or at least he’ll end up that way by the end of the year I would think.

Adrian, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!
