Well, this is just interesting. Tyree Range (6’1″/230) committed to Texas Tech last night. Range is a junior college prospect currently playing at Riverside C.C. and is expected to sign (wherever he goes) in December. This is a bit odd for me because Range will be a junior next year, when Stockton is a senior and Demarcus Felton is a junior with Corey Dauphine as a sophomore and Da’Leon Ward also a sophomore (his redshirt has been lifted).
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO WISHED ME A HAPPY BDAY. HAPPY TO BE ALIVE AND HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE MY COMMITMENT TO TEXAS TECH pic.twitter.com/b3se1zBwCf

That’s a crowded backfield and it seems strange to write this as soon as the guy commits, but this feels like one of those commitment placeholders (maybe they should all be labeled as this). RRS’s Matt Clare spoke with Clare and said that a big part of his commitment is DeShaun Foster and Range also says that he doesn’t have any offers just yet and has talked with LSU, Georgia and Syracuse, but are waiting to see some sophomore film before making an offer. The film embedded below is Range’s high school film.
