Texas Tech and Big 12 Media Days – 024

Christmas in July! We discuss our favorite Christmas movies and how Die Hard is definitely a Christmas movie.

Tim Tadlock was named D1Baseball Coach of the Year. Gabe Holt received yet another honor for his 2018 campaign as he was selected to Baseball America’s First Team Freshman All-American Team.

Two more basketball players have signed professional contracts overseas. Chris Beard also was overseas to see Davide Moretti play for the Italian national team.

Big 12 Media Days was this week and Texas Tech was represented by Dakota Allen, Travis Bruffy, JaDeion High and JahShawn Johnson. Tech had three players (all defensive) selected to the Preseason All Big 12 team and a certain Texas homer is butthurt about it. We also talk about the episode of the Comeback S2N podast where hosts Erik Burkhart and Johnny Manziel interview Kliff Kingsbury.

Unfortunately, Gabe Rivera passed away and we talk about what a generational talent he was, even though none of us were able to see him play in person.

Mailbag

In the mailbag this week, we’re asked if Putin will interfere with the Big 12 race this season, and how OU is the face of Russian propaganda. We discuss what we’re most excited and scared about for the 2018 football season. Finally, most teams do not deviate more than 2 games +/- in terms of W/L record from season to season and we’re asked to project where we think Tech will land in that spectrum for 2018.

Michael takes us through his inital steps of cutting the cord and moving to a full streaming service instead of cable.

Lastly, we discuss Oklahoma State announcing that they will sell beer at all of their athletic events and whether we think Tech should follow suit, and how Lubbock will be getting a Cheesecake Factory in possibly the worst location.
