Game Day Explanations. You all had a lot of questions about improving the game-day experience and that everyone needed to know that the athletic department needs to know that they need to make the game day experience better. Well, they do know that and I’d really recommend watching Chris Cook and Robert Giovannetti explain the changes made with the game-day experience, where the new Raider Alley will be, which I think is a better use of the key, is a really pretty part of the campus, and a short walk to the stadium.

Plus they talk about how they are constantly working to make the game day experience better and making it worth your while. Is it perfect? No, but it is their job to make that happen. I’d also add that taking cars out of the equation at the key is very smart, less cars and more space for humans on game-day is great. Not only that, but the buses will not run through campus, but will be on the North side of Jones AT&T Stadium and this is additional good news. As a guy with kids, watching for buses was always a concern after the game.

This is worth your time for sure.

Texas Tech 4, Oral Roberts 0. A pretty dominating game coming off of the road loss to New Mexico last week, shots on goal was 23 to 4 in favor of Texas Tech and two goals by Kirsten Davis as well as a goal by Jordie Harr and Hannah Anderson led the way (Box Score – PDF). In some bad news that I think happened before the game is that Ally Griffin may be out for the year and I think she was going to be a huge part of the team this year.

Beer and Wine. A-J Media’s Don Williams writes about the new beer and wine sales that will be part of game-day experience in the stadium and Don goes through the what money that the athletic department made during the basketball season, only $180,000 to $190,000 and the football program only expects to profit $800,000. And there is no re-entry, which is a big deal for some, but I don’t see the big deal. That’s pretty standard for most stadiums, but hasn’t been the norm at Texas Tech. Don seems to indicate that he wanted a non-drinking area and I’ve been to quite a few games with alcohol and 95% of the time, it’s not a problem. I’ve had one beer spilled on me, in fact it was the opening game last year in Houston by an Ole Miss fan and he was very apologetic and gave me $10. I don’t know, it wasn’t a problem for basketball or baseball, so I don’t see why it’s a problem now.

2021 Opener. A-J Media’s Don Williams also reported that Texas Tech will open the 2021 season with Florida International on a Thursday night. If you’d like the full future schedule for Texas Tech, FB Schedules is a pretty terrific source for information. As of right now, Texas Tech needs an opening game in 2020 and plays at UTEP and hosts Arizona next year, basically a flip-flop of this year.
