Team Luke. Really terrific story and my heart aches every time I see Luke.
Luke Siegel has been an inspiration to @TechAthletics,@Saints QB @drewbrees plus many more of the top athletes in the world – and he’s still just a kid.
His story shows just how resilient the human spirit can be.

King to Apply for Redshirt. This is not good news as senior Jade King suffered a knee injury and will apply for a redshirt year this year and hopes to play next year. In addition to King, Ally Griffin also injured her knee this early season and neither one of these injuries are good news for these ladies and Coach Stone.

Hot Opener. A-J Media’s Don Williams has an opinion piece on the hot opener, but the hot opener being the result of television networks that somewhat control when Texas Tech plays its football games:
Leaving the Big 12 β and its TV money β of its own volition is not even worth discussing. And certainly not at this time. The second-biggest expense on Techβs payroll this school year is $11.4 million devoted to debt service β as it was last year and as it will be next year.
As weβve documented in recent years, Tech will be paying off debt related to its massive and needed investment in sports facilities through the year 2036. At least the total is now down to a little more than $97 million and the annual debt service payment will drop below $10 million the year after next.
That means the Red Raiders are going to keep playing football games at 11 a.m., and a few in mid-afternoon heat.
Itβs a cost Tech simply canβt afford not to bear.
I mean, sure, this is all true. It was hot, but it was fine and we live in Texas, in September, and the heat really won’t let up until Halloween. That’s just the way that it is.
