• Cumbie hired at Tech in 2009 as grad assistant; promoted to inside receivers coach by Tuberville in 2010; was interim OC in the 2012 Meineke Car Care Bowl after Tuberville left (actually created and called the “Little People, Big World” play in the bowl game that Kingsbury later called to defeat Texas in Austin); Kingsbury promoted him to Co-OC in 2013; hired at TCU in 2014; interviewed for the UT OC job in 2016, TCU gave him a raise to become the highest paid OC in the country (at the time)
• Supposedly, Gary Patterson limited Cumbie’s offensive playcalling to protect his defense
