The Morning Stake | 2020.12.28

I mentioned this in the weekend thread, but this time of year is my busiest time of year professionally. I do estate planning and tend to get a bunch of clients that want to do something before the end of the year, sometimes gifting and sometimes just getting stuff done. So, my time is really short for this week and last week it was really short as well, especially with the holiday. Once we get past the new year, things should return to relatively normal for me.

To catch up from last week, the Lady Raiders defeated Southern 79-60 on December 21st with Lexi Gordon scoring 25 and grabbing 11 boards for a double-double, and Vivian Gray had 22 points with 5 boards and 5 assists. I should also remind all of us that the ladies secured their first conference win on December 19th, beating TCU 78-72, so they’re 1-1 in the conference.

Prior to the men’s game on Tuesday, the ladies will also play Incarnate Word at 1:00 p.m. After Incarnate Word, the Lady Raiders will travel to Stillwater to take on Oklahoma State on January 2nd.

The men will mirror the women (or vice versa) in that they will play Incarnate Word on Tuesday, December 29th at 6:00 p.m. They will turn around on Saturday, January 2nd and play Oklahoma State in Lubbock with tip-off at 3:00 p.m.

If you need some basketball content, CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish ranks the top 25 and 1 every day and has Texas Tech ranked 9th overall.

Know what’s insane? Texas Tech baseball with 3 CBN Preseason All-Americans, in righthander Micah Dallas named to the College Baseball Newspaper 2nd team, baseball player-man (he can do so much, why limit him) Dylan Neuse named to the 3rd team, and shortstop Cal Conley also named to the 3rd team. Should also mention that the team is also ranked as the No. 4 team in the nation in the CB Newspaper preseason poll.

Here are some tweets.
