One more practice down last night and we get a few links plus I’ll have a bigger basketball post arriving here shortly. I also always understand that the links are typically a day late and a dollar short, but you don’t always come here for the links, you come here to discuss things. Enjoy.

The Dallas Morning News has their best of Texas and Texas Tech has moved up a spot to #3, behind TAMU and Baylor.

Texas Tech announced that City Bank agreed to pay the $50,000 fine assessed by the Big 12. I think at this point it is clear that there’s a rulebook and that rulebook says that if your fans rush the field then you owe a fine. It’s not a Bowlsby thing or anything else, it’s just the rules.

Reggie Pearson and Trey Wolff were named the Big 12 co-Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week. Donovan Smith was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose player of the week for his performance as well.

Just a couple of quick asides that you can do with this as you will. Texas Tech volleyball is 12-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference. I don’t know the strength of schedule, i.e. I don’t know if 12-2 is inflated, but I think this is still a significant improvement from when Tony Graystone was put in charge of this program.

The soccer team is 4-3-4 and 0-1-1 in the Big 12, which is 6th. Over the years I’ve absolutely loved watching and reading about soccer, women’s soccer is no different. It seems as if Texas Tech has a scoring problem, averaging 1.091 goals a game while allowing .73. There’s just not a lot of room for error. Finding players who can score is a rare thing and I think Tom Stone has a young team.
