Basketball

The Big 12 Media Days, aka “Big 12 Basketball Tipoff” is set for today with Texas Tech head coach Mark Adams set to be live for his press conference at 11:30 this morning. Chris Beard is at the presser right before Adams, for what it’s worth. The players who will be in attendance is De’Vion Harmon, Kevin Obanor, and Fardaws Aimaq. I’m encouraged that Aimaq is making the trip to Kansas City. Also making the trip for Kansas is Kevin McCullar, who was not initially announced as an attendee, so this should be a fun reunion all the way around. And I’m sure the players are fine to an extent, it’s the fans that are all up in arms.

Texas Tech checked in at #25 in the initial AP Top 25 Poll, which is fine. Other Big 12 teams are Kansas and Baylor tied at #5, Texas at #12, and TCU at #14.

Football

The Gazette Mail’s Greg Hunter details some injuries that West Virginia is dealing with, including starting cornerback Wesley McCormick, Charles Woods, and freshman cornerback Andrew Wilson-Lamp was ejected in the second half of the Baylor game so he’ll be out for the first half of the Texas Tech game. Defensive end Sean Martin is questionable and tight end Mike O’Laughlin is out for the year. Returning is running back CJ Donaldson, cornerback Rashad Ajayi, defensive back Aumu Bin-Wahad, and offensive lineman Jordan White

Tyree Wilson keeping piling up the accolades as he was named to the Rotary Lombardi Award watch list and the midseason All-American first-team by The Athletic.

Dallas Morning News’ Lia Assimakopoulos talks to Texas Tech commit quarterback Jake Strong who is at Justin Northwest and you should go read the whole thing.
