On the Diamond
Texas Tech softball downed Texas 4-3 in a heck of a game. So many big moments. The game was scoreless through the 4th inning and in the 5th inning, Raegan Jennings scored on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch and a passed ball scored Mihyia Davis from 3rd base putting Texas Tech up 2-0. Texas would immediately answer in the top of the 6th scoring a run and then Texas Tech would end up scoring 2 more runs. A Demi Elder walk, then Victoria Valdez reached base on a Texas fumble at 1st base with Elder getting to 3rd base. Makalya Garcia subs in for Elder and Bailey Lindemuth sacrifice flies to center with Garcia scoring and Valdez getting to 2nd base. Davis hits a chopper to the 1st base side, which is fumbled again with Valdez running from 2nd base and and Gerry Glasco puts up the stop sign at 3rd base, which Valdez ignores, and THIS ends up being the winning run. Texas would score 2 more runs in the 7th to make things especially tense and the score ends up at 4-3.
“I think we’re going to play really hard-nosed ball tomorrow,” Texas Tech head coach Gerry Glasco said of Friday’s finale. “I think my kids got some confidence tonight, and I expect the momentum to really be in our dugout at the beginning of the game tomorrow, kind of like theirs was today. It won’t matter. Somebody’s got to take it, and they’re going to do something during the game, whichever team wins.”
The final game is tonight, first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. and the game on ESPN.
“We don’t want to lose, so just going up there and fighting for each other.”
