On the Track

The men and women for Texas Tech track & field won the outdoor Big 12 title this week, the men scored 127 points (Arizona was 2nd with 101 points) and the women scored 119.5 points with BYU finishing 2nd. Huge congrats to Wes Kittley and the entire program, both the men and women. Such a huge accomplishment.

On the Gridiron

The Athletic’s Justin Williams reports that lawyer’s for Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby are requesting an expedited resolution to the concerns regarding Sorsby’s gambling addiction:

Sorsby applying for reinstatement with the NCAA is an expected part of the eligibility process. Discussions between Sorsby’s legal team and the NCAA on the matter were expected Friday, but official paperwork may not be filed until next week, industry sources told The Athletic. Yahoo Sports first reported Sorsby’s reinstatement request on Friday.

I have no idea how this will play out. I do find it fascinating. The law is filled with leverage points and am trying to find the leverage point for Sorsby and his attorney on this potential suspension, other than a lawsuit, but still struggle to where Sorsby’s team has an advantage.

has the top 25 most feared defensive players and Ben Roberts is at No. 16 and Brice Pollock is at No. 18. I think I would have included AJ Holmes in this list, but can’t say that I know enough about the national guys to have an opinion as to who should be in or out. Here’s the write-up on Pollock:

Pollock gives Texas Tech something it has lacked in recent defensive cycles — a true lockdown presence who allows the entire coverage structure to breathe at the back end. With Pollock on an island, Texas Tech can roll safeties, disguise pressures and play more aggressively at the second level, part of the reason he’s a potential first-rounder next cycle. Pollock pulled down three interceptions as a second-year starter over the Red Raiders’ first three games before opposing offenses realized they had to be more selective in targeting receivers under his watch.
