Late night for me taking Youssouf to practice so a short and sweet stake this morning. Also, Fitsum is driving now as he passed his driving test last week. If you all have been with me for a long time, you can probably remember the day he came home 14.5 or so years ago (his Gotcha Day is in October). They grow up before you’re ready for them to grow up.
Budget
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams reports that the athletic budget increased by $10 million because of the George Strait concerts as well as the post-season success from the football team.
“So we increased the revenues by $10 million and a corresponding increase in expenditures,” Culp said, “because we have to have a balanced budget, so there’ll be some additional spending as well.”
Culp and Tech deputy athletics director Jonathan Botros said the sources of the additional revenue included the two-night Strait concerts on April 24 and April 25 at Jones AT&T Stadium, revenue from Tech football’s participation in the Big 12 championship game and the College Football Playoff as well as donor contributions.
On the Diamond
Texas Tech baseball lost to BYU 18-8 in the opening game of the Big 12 Tournament, thus bringing the season to an end. Logan Hughes and Connor Shouse were named as 1st Team All-Big 12 and Caden Ferraro was 2nd Team All-Big 12, while Tracer Lopez, Jesse Ruisnek, and Linkin Garcia were named to the All-Freshman team.
D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers usually doesn’t tweet/x unless something is going to happen. I don’t speculate much here so I’ll just let Rogers’ tweet/x speak for itself:
The next week should be pretty interesting for Texas Tech baseball. https://t.co/c7yFPte0Vc
