At the Net
Texas Tech volleyball will be in Iowa City for a final tune-up before conference play. This new policy that sort of requires students to go to multiple athletic events in order to go to football games has resulted in really great attendance for women’s events. I am sure there are some negative consequences that will come into view, but not as of right now.

On the Diamond
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Nathan Giese and Red Raider Sports’ Shelby Hilliard each have an article on pitcher Kaitlyn Terry, who was chosen to be part of a partnership with Venmo and how NIL has changed her life. This is part of of the Giese article, but both are worth reading:
“NIL has changed college sports completely,” Terry said. “But I also think it’s able to help and look at the responsibility of the long term of NIL and the money that you get, but it’s also off the field. I’ve kind of learned that no matter what, you kind of have to be intentional with your money.”
On the Gridiron
Do you need a pick-me-up? ESPN’s Andrea Adelsonon Florida State’s Ethan Pritchard who was in his Dodge Charger (he was on his way to visit his uncle and a serious case of mistaken identity), someone fired 71 shots, 70 missed him and 1 did not, spent 30 days in a coma, which included a vision of his deceased mother and Jesus, and living to tell about it.
Texas Tech’ Patrick Mahomes’ uniforms will have the State Farm Insurance logo on them, which will be in addition to Mahomes’ log, the Big 12 logo, and our friendly neighborhood Monster Energy logo.
