The Player Speaks: RRS’s Matt Clare talked with Beck about how his commitment went down:

“I called Coach Gibbs and just let him know that I’m positive on my decision, and that I’m 100% committed to Texas Tech,” Beck said. “He was super excited, then he connected me with Coach (Kliff) Kingsbury. I have a good relationship with him too, and he was just fired up. He told me that he’s expecting me to be the best defensive back to come through Lubbock!”

Scouting Report: Beck fits the exact mold that David Gibbs likes in his defensive backs. Long, rangy, can play multiple positions. Beck isn’t necessarily a speedster, but he isn’t slow. His length can make up for a large part of any lack in speed. Things that I like are that he’s a sure-tackler and he doesn’t mind laying down a hit. He’s got nice form playing cornerback as he seems to have a solid idea of what he’s supposed to be doing. I still think that Texas Tech takes five defensive backs in this class and I’m very much encouraged that the first two are high school defensive backs. I’d expect at least two JUCO defensive backs, but I love the fact that Gibbs and Spavital want high school guys too that fit the mold of what they want.

Adam, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!
