Texas Tech combo guard and forward, C.J. Williamson, announced on Twitter today that he’s transferring from Texas Tech:
I have opened up my recruitment from Texas Tech University. I want to thank coach Beard & his staff for a great summer. #AllLove #WreckEm ✊🏽

Williamson was most likely expected to back-up Justin Gray this year at small forward and he averaged 1.8 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.3 assists last year in 20 games last year in a limited role. Williamson was behind some talented players and never really had the opportunity to receive significant playing time. This does open up an additional scholarship for next year that was set to have Anthony Livingston, Shadell Millinghaus Giovanni McLean, Aaron Ross and Devon Thomas all graduate so Chris Beard will have 5 scholarships available, presuming he doesn’t fill Williamson’s spot this year. Ed. I mixed up Millinghaus and McLean, it is McLean that graduates this year, Millinghaus has two years of eligibility.
We wish Williamson the best. Go chase that dream.
