So, this has been a bit of a strange twist, Tyree Range had been committed to Texas Tech for quite some time, but something happened and Range lost his offer and in comes Desmond Nesby from Diablo Valley College.

It’s hard to tell exactly when Nisby committed, but I’m writing this as of the date of this tweet (Sunday, December 11th):

This year, Nisby ran for 642 yards on 162 carries for 4.0 yards per carry, plus 7 touchdowns (and unfortunately 6 fumbles). Nisby also caught 11 passes for 107 yards, 9.7 yards per attempt and a touchdown. As a freshman, Nisby played for Santa Rosa J.C. and you can watch the highlights at that link.
You get to know Nisby a bit here from The Inquirer where Nisby was profiled, but this was really a fluff piece and you don’t find out all that much. Nisby was the leading rusher for Diablo Valley by nearly 200 yards, but they weren’t exactly an offensive juggernaut. As an aside Diablo Valley are the vikings and not the devils.
As far as the highlights are concerned, I do like how Nisby likes to hit opponents, he hits the hole pretty quickly, he dances a bit in the backfield, but he’ll bounce outside or hit the hole after a juke. I do think he has quick feet and not blazing speed, but he’s fast enough. No long break-away runs. It’s my understanding that Nisby has 3 years to play two seasons.
