The Lady Raiders (8-4, 0-1 Big12) did not do well in their first Big12 Conference game on Thursday night against the #16 Texas Longhorns losing by 20 points 47-67. The bulk of the 20 points was lost in the 2nd Qtr when Tech only scored 5 points. Prior to that horrible game play, the Lady Raiders had gone on an 8 point run at the end of the 1st Qtr to come within 4 points. Other positives from the game were the 24 points that Recee’ Caldwell scored and that Texas Tech held Texas to shooting just 18.2% from beyond the arc, the Longhorns second lowest of the season. The Lady Raiders now must focus on beating their rival the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (11-1, 1-0 Big12) on Sunday, January 1, 2017. This will be the 59th meeting between these two teams. The Lady Raiders holds a 32-26 (25-15 Big12) all-time record over Oklahoma State and a 15-10 record in Lubbock. However, the Cowgirls have had Tech’s number, winning the last 7 games.
