Via the London Free Press, former Red Raider basketballer Dejan Kravic is holding his own basketball camp at Westminster:

“I’ve done so many camps as a camp instructor but this is the first one as a camp leader,” Kravic said. “I’ve worked North Pole Hoops camp, Tubby Smith summer camp, York Lions summer camp. I love kids so much. I love working with them. As camp leader it’s going to be awesome.”

Kravic is Serbian. The seven-footer played his basketball at York University and with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Since graduating from university, he’s played in several leagues in Europe. He had to leave Europe early last year to rehab injuries.

“But I’m healthy now,” he said. “I’ll be going back to Europe this year. I have a couple of places to play and I expect to sign a contract in the next few days.”

Get to know freshman offensive lineman Casey Verhulst.

LAJ’s Don Williams has a snapshot of defensive tackle Broderick Washington, noting that Washington was one of the eight captains for the winter strength program and strength and conditioning coach Rusty Whitt thinks Washington could be one of the strongest players in the Big 12:

Strength and conditioning coach Rusty Whitt calls Washington “the role model in the weight room,” constantly pushing himself and being a vocal leader to teammates. Whitt said Washington should be one of the Big 12’s strongest players physically.

“I like lifting weights,” Washington said. “I guess I’m just that guy that, once I’m in there, I might as well get some work done. And I want to be the strongest guy, so I’m in there pushing myself every day.”
