Big 12 Report: Week 10 Previews

Game: Baylor vs. Kansas
Last Week: Texas 38, Baylor 7 | Kansas State 30, Kansas 20
Date & Time: Saturday, September 4th @ 11:00 am
Location: Memorial Stadium
Television: FSN
Line: Baylor -8
Expert Commentary: That line opened up at -10 for Baylor and I still really don’t like it at -8. Zach Smith should start at quarterback and I think the Baylor offense is better, but I really don’t think that Stanley Carter is a terrible quarterback and he moved the ball quite well against Kansas State, just couldn’t put the ball into the endzone. I don’t know that Baylor will be able to do that (i.e. do the job that Kansas State did). I’ll take those points for Kansas here, but I’d guess that Baylor wins.
Game: Iowa State vs. West Virginia
Last Week: Iowa State 14, TCU 7 | Oklahoma State 59, West Virginia 39
Date & Time: Saturday, September 4th @ 2:30 pm
Location: Milan Puskar Stadium
Television: ESPN2
Line: West Virginia -2.5
Expert Commentary: After Iowa State’s recent run, I sorta thought that ISU would be favored, but nope. West Virginia is essentially getting that homefield field goal advantage. I’ll take Iowa State here, that defense is a lot better than folks are giving it credit for and that defensive coordinator is carving up some Big 12 offenses. West Virginia has the better offense, but I’m not confident the Mountaineers are going to just score at will. I’ll take the points.
Game: Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State
Last Week: Oklahoma 49, Texas Tech 27 | Oklahoma State 50, West Virginia 39
Date & Time: Saturday, September 4th @ 3:00 pm
Location: Boone Pickens Stadium
Television: FS1
Line: Oklahoma State -3
Expert Commentary: The obvious take is take the points and the Sooners. They were probably underdogs to start the season, but I think the Oklahoma State offense is for real and lethal. I think this turns into one of those 48-45 sort of games where the two teams just go back and forth for the better part of the game and like the spread, the game will likely be a coin flip. I’ll take the Sooners, but begrudgingly so.
Game: Texas vs. TCU
Last Week: Texas 38, Baylor 7 | Iowa State 14, TCU 7
Date & Time: Saturday, September 4th @ 6:15 pm
Location: Amon G. Carter Stadium
Television: ESPN
Line: TCU -7
Expert Commentary: I don’t know how much to read into Texas putting up 38 against Baylor, but I do know that the Texas defense is for real. They’re very good and you can say the same about TCU. Both terrific defenses with suspect offenses. Because of that, I’ll take Texas and those points, i.e. I think this is going to be a defensive battle.
