SI’s Jenny Vrentas writes about Kansas City head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, officially making the Sports Illustrated cover as the “future” of football.

A-J Media’s Don Williams writes about how this team needs to be better later in the games, which was a trait earlier in the season that this team exhibited.

The early scores and momentum gave Tech a chance to win each game late. But in the three losses, the Red Raiders gave up five fourth-quarter touchdowns — four that capped 75-yard drives and one that ended a 92-yard march.

“I don’t think it’s the conditioning part,” defensive tackle Nick McCann said. “We’re definitely not tired. That’s for sure. We’re just as strong as everybody. We’re just as physical.

“So I think what we have to do to get where we want to go is minimize mistakes as much as possible, and penalties, because those are what’s hurting us and everybody knows it.”

A-J Media’s Don Williams has a notebook from yesterday’s media availability and since there’s always a reason to update the injury situation, running back Ta’Zhawn Henry has two turf toes and is most likely out for K-State, while Alan Bowman is also out for the Kansas State game.
