Big 12 play has arrived for No. 16 Texas Tech, and it kicks off at home versus No. 2 Texas. After two-straight meetings in the series in Austin, it will be the Red Raiders’ first time to host the Longhorns since 2018 due to COVID-19 halting the conference schedule in 2020. Friday’s meeting will be the 169th all-time meeting between Texas Tech and Texas. Since the Tim Tadlock era started in 2013, the series between the two programs is knotted, 13-13.
This weekend, John Harris and Mike Gustafson will call the game from inside Rip Griffin Park as coverage will be provided via Big 12 Now on ESPN+. The broadcast can be accessed from any desktop or laptop computer, any personal cellular device and television streaming services using the ESPN app. Registration for the subscription service can be found at ESPNPlus.com.

Texas Tech Sports Network will also broadcast the game over 46 affiliates throughout the state of Texas and New Mexico as Jamie Lent will have the call alongside analyst, Texas Tech baseball alum, Cam Warren.

Bottom of the 10th, tied 4-4 between No. 16 Texas Tech and No. 2 Texas at Rip Griffin Park in front of a sold-out crowd, and the Red Raiders were down to their last out of the frame with runners on second and third base. That was the moment senior Kurt Wilson took matters into his own hands, stealing home (watch) to give Texas Tech the 5-4 extra-innings win in the most unlikely of ways to kick off a three-game series Friday night to open Big 12 play.
