Athlon Sports has their season preview for Texas Tech and this is fine, very superficial, but fine. You won’t learn anything new here.
The official site has a story on the summer workouts with the team at hand, currently 2 spots short of a full roster. Here’s a bit from head coach Grant McCasland:
McCasland: “You want to have great energy every day. You’re establishing the competitiveness and energy that is required to win championships. You have to do it every day. The first day is the fun day where everyone is excited, but the longer you play the more difficult things get. The same energy is required. I’m thrilled with the effort and love this team. They have great competitiveness and love each other. Any time you come out here trying to get the best out of each other I think you’re going to reach a ceiling that doesn’t even exist. Our guys can always get better. You have to play with energy to get better and today we had it.”

CBS Sports’ Shehan Jeyarajah has the top Big 12 transfers and I’m including Deandrae McCray, the transfer from Austin Peay, but I sort of forget that Alan Bowman is at Oklahoma State now:
Oklahoma State QB Alan Bowman: The Cowboys were aggressive in the transfer portal, but the former Michigan and Texas Tech quarterback remains the most intriguing addition on the board. A lifetime ago, Bowman set the all-time Big 12 freshman passing record with 605 yards in a 63-49 victory over Houston. Bowman struggled to fit into Jim Harbaugh’s pro-style system, only throwing 11 passes over the past two seasons, but Pokes coach Mike Gundy will slot Bowman back into the spread. Health has been a major issue for Bowman, but the gamble is more than worth it.
Texas Tech WR Deandrae McCray: Despite his 5-foot-9 size, McCray was coveted at the Power Five level for his blazing speed and production. McCray posted 1,000 yards as a true sophomore and recorded 17 touchdowns over his two years at Austin Peay. Texas Tech’s roster is filled with massive receivers, so adding a speedster to spread the field gives offensive coordinator Zach Kittley more toys to play with in 2023.
Miscellaneous . . . Former Texas Tech footballer Graham Harrell was named to the 2024 ballot for the induction into the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame . . . baseball freshmen Kevin Bazzell and Gage Harrelson were named to the 2023 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American team . . . there’s a ton happening with track and field in the NCAA Outdoor Championships and I can’t really keep track of that, but click that link to catch up
