The Lady Raiders (14-16,6-13 Big12) play the Baylor Bears (28-2, 17-1 Big12) on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1:30pm. The Lady Raiders lead the all-time mseries 47-38. Texas Tech lost both games to Baylor this season. In the first game, the Lady Raiders kept the game close until the Bears went on a run in the second half. Tech fell to Baylor, 79-61. Last Saturday, Tech traveled to Waco for the 2nd game, the Lady Raiders started off slow in the first quarter but came back strong in the 2nd Qtr. The Lady Raiders outscored Baylor 12-8 in the opening minutes of the 2nd Qtr and held the Baylor Bears to just eight more points in the half.
But Baylor secured their lead as they put up 25 points in the final quarter. The final score for the 2nd game was 86-48.
The game today will be extremely tough for the Lady Raiders and they will have to play an almost perfect game to get the win, but I have hopes that for once this season they pull it all together and do just that. I would love to see the Lady Raiders beat Baylor today. Red Raider Nation needs to have positive thoughts and the mantra for today is “Beat the Baylor Bears” and “Take Mulkey and her squad down a notch”.
The 2017 Phillips 66 Big12 Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament arwill be the final games for the Lady Raiders this season. If the Lady Raiders can play aggressively and with good cohesive teamwork and focus on making their attempts on the basket count, they can beat Baylor this afternoon. I would like the final games to show that this program has grown this season and will make a solid mark next season.
